Will there be a The Witcher 4? Maybe not says CD Projekt Red

Fans of The Witcher series would love to see The Witcher 4 release some day, however according to CD Projekt Red, er will be waiting a very long for one to release, if it does at all.

Not long ago, CD Projekt Red revealed their plans for the next six years which included releasing a triple-a role-playing game between 2077 and 2021 and of course, many Witcher fans took that as being The Witcher 4. It seems they jumped the gun a bit too soon as co-founder Marcin Iwinski confirmed that it was not The Witcher 4 and that he couldn’t share any more details than that.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Marcin Iwinski was asked whether or not Blood and Wine would signal the end for The Witcher series or if more games were planned further down the line. The answer probably wasn’t what fans were wanting to hear though.

“We honestly don’t know. We don’t have anything planned as of now to be honest on the next Witcher,” said Iwinski.

“As we said before, never say never [but] right now it’s really Blood and Wine. This is the end. Blood and Wine is [the] closing and there won’t be any Witcher any time soon – if there ever will be one. And I would really like to see how people feel about it, if they will enjoy it,” he added.

“I can assure you we are not working on another Witcher.”

It’s probably a bit too soon to be talking about a sequel to The Witcher 3 anyway, especially considering its just recently turned a year old. The studio did say they won’t ever say never so there is certainly a chance there will be more to come from The Witcher, just don’t put your hopes on it being anytime soon…

Still, we do have an upcoming RPG to look forward to from one of gaming’s most talented studios. Things could be a lot worse I guess.
