The Last of Us film adaption on its way

A live-action production of The Last of Us should be on its way, a co-production between Naughty Dog, Screen Gems and Ghost House Pictures.

Screen Gems have signed on to distribute a live-action adaption of The Last of Us, intended for production as a feature film. Neil Druckmann, the creative director for the game, will write the script whilst other Naughty Dog ‘high-ups’ will be involved in the production including co-presidents Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra and Game Director, Bruce Straley.

The Last of Us reached critical acclaim and won numerous awards, particularly for its story, following its release in 2013, so it certainly makes sense for a The Last of Us film to be in production. The game has a huge following, and many fans will be excited by the prospect of seeing it hitting the ‘big screen’. Screen Gems are a production studio that are also no strangers to adapting video game franchises to live-action films, as they are responsible for the production of the Resident Evil movies.
No word on who will be playing Ellie and Joel in the movie adaption yet.
