Super Smash Bros. To Be Finished 2014

Super Smash Bros., the beloved Nintendo fighter, has been a fan favorite Nintendo game since the first time we were able to “Duke it out” as our favorite Nintendo characters in 1999. With three games in the series, fans have had opportunities to fight each other on the Nintendo 64, Nintendo GameCube and Nintendo Wii. Super Smash Bros. has seen a myriad of characters grace the 4-player screen, such as Link, Mario, Mewtwo, Meta Knight and even Snake from Metal Gear Solid.

Masahiro Sakurai, the director of the Super Smash Bros. series, as well as the upcoming title for Wii U and 3DS, spoke with Weekly Famitsu as one of the 100 game developers that were asked about their New Years Resolutions for 2014.

Mr.-Masahiro-Sakurai

“I resolve to complete development on Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U and release it in 2014.”

Though he has received criticism for the direction this installment is taking, such as his comments on characters and the story, this news should definitely excite anyone who’s a fan of the series or anyone who owns either of Nintendo’s latest game systems. It looks like we may see the new Super Smash Bros. title next year, and it seems like the team is going to work hard to provide us with a fantastic new addition to one of Nintendo’s many beloved lines of games.
