Steam Summer Sale Day 7

Here’s the Daily Deals from today’s Steam Summer Sale Day 7! We’re on the home stretch now, with some great games up for sale today!

Pick of the Day - Grand Theft Auto IV [75% Discount - $4.99USD, £4.99GBP, $12.49AUD]

Rockstar seal of approval. Grand Theft Auto IV was an absolutely huge hit on release, and is still one of the most popular games to play 5 years on from it’s release. With GTA V just around the corner, if you’ve been living under a rock for the last 5 years and haven’t played this game, then buy it. Even better, get yourself the GTA Complete pack! This is also 75% off an includes GTA, GTA 2, GTA 3, GTA: Vice City, GTA: San Andreas, GTA IV and GTA: Episodes from Liberty City.

Dead Island Riptide [50% Discount - $19.99USD, £17.49GBP, $34.99AUD]

The most underwhelming zombie franchise of all time. The original had some crippling issues and i’m afraid to say that they haven’t been fixed here, performance isn’t great - and neither are the graphics. The gameplay is typically quite fun however and if you’re a true zombie fan than you will probably enjoy this game at least a little, you just have to look past some of the monstrous issues to enjoy it. There is a nice little feature where you can load your save from the last game in this one though, and kudos to Techland for at least trying something a little different with the Dead Island franchise.

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition [75% Discount - $7.49USD, £4.99GBP, $12.48AUD]

Prepare to die indeed. God damn - this game is hard. Regarded as one of the toughest games of all time, this game will make you hate yourself, everything and everyone around you. Straight from the word go you will die repeatedly in this game, there is no hand holding here - that does provide you with a great deal of satisfaction when you do finally get past a certain part of a level that has been tormenting you for hours. Only for that joy to be sapped back out of you in one fell crushing blow. Man, screw this game. (Seriously though, it’s actually quite good).

Fallen Enchantress Legendary Heroes [66-75% Discount - $13.59USD, £10.19GBP, $13.59AUD]

Fallen Enchantress Legendary Heroes is a strategy game from Stardock Entertainment with a sandbox styled single player campaign. Scoring an impressive 85 on metacritic, this game is a strategy done very well. The UI looks similar to that of Civilization so fans of that series should be able to very easily transition between games.

Tropico 4: Steam Special Edition [80% Discount - $5.99USD, £4.99GBP, $7.99AUD]

Don’t like what EA have done to Sim City? Well then El Presidente, come and rule Tropico! This island simulation game puts you in charge of a dictatorship with the character “El Presidente”. This game has a great sense of humour and addictive gameplay. If you’ll happily spend a lot of time playing Civilization or Sim City, fair warning - you will play this a lot.

Batman Arkham City GOTY [75% Discount - $7.49USD, £4.99GBP, $7.49AUD]

The hugely popular Batman Arkham series is one of the most popular game franchises around. Both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City received great reviews from critics, with Arkham City scoring 91 on metacritic. Whether you’re a fan of Batman and DC Comics or not, this game is one you really should play.

Ace of Spades [75% Discount - $2.49USD, £1.74GBP, $2.49AUD]

Ace of Spades is another incredibly underwhelming title, best described as an first person shooter version of Minecraft, the game was initially ran by Ben Aksoy but has now been taken over by Jagex (creators of Runescape). The beta version did seem like this game could actually be a lot of fun, but when the full release was unveiled, it was criticised for being so fast paced and over equipped that construction became absolutely pointless. It remains to be seen whether constant updates from Jagex will bring this game back on track.

Mount and Blade: With Fire and Sword [75% Discount - $2.49USD, £1.99GBP, $2.49AUD]

Mount and Blade: With Fire and Sword is a standalone expansion to the base game Mount and Blade. Whilst this game does have a few issues, it would certainly be a good fit for those who want to get really involved in realistic historical RPG’s. However, it has had lukewarm reviews, earning it a metascore of just 68.

Evoland [50% Discount - $4.99USD, £3.49GBP, $4.99AUD]

This game has received distinctly mediocre reviews, scoring just 61 on metacritic. Screw those guys, I like you Evoland. The entire concept of this intentionally short game is to utilise the core mechanic of evolving the graphics to fit styles of your favourite games from 30 years ago, right up to the graphic style of today. So to those who missed that expecting an incredibly unique and detailed RPG (seriously, the trailer describes it as “A Short Story of Adventure Video Games Evolution”), this is a giant middle finger to you from me, and a giant thumbs up for Evoland.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution [85% Discount - $2.99USD, £1.79GBP, $3.74AUD]

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a cyberpunk themed action RPG from Eidos Montreal and published by Square Enix. The game has received great critical reviews and it pays great homage to the original Deus Ex, released in 2000. The game’s greatest asset is it’s story and open-endedness. One of the most famous series in video games, this prequel title is certainly one you should give a go if you haven’t before.
