SEGA to acquire Atlus

Bloomberg is reporting that SEGA’s parent company, Sega Sammy Holdings Inc, has beat out its competitors to win the auction for bankrupt Japanese company, Index Corp. Index is best known as the parent company of the widely respected video game company, Atlus.

Atlus is known for its development and publishing of niche japanese RPGs, fighting, and adventure games. It has really started to make a name for itself in recent years thanks to the critical and commercial successes of games like Demon’s Souls, Catherine, and Persona 4: Golden.

Index originally filed for bankruptcy on June, 27th, and the sale of the company began in mid August.
