Resident Evil 1 to Be Remastered…Again
In 2002, Capcom released a remake of their hit-game Resident Evil for the Nintendo GameCube. The remake received critical acclaim, especially for the remake’s use of layered FMV video for its backgrounds, making the port one of the best looking games in its generation. Today Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 1, specifically the GameCube port, will be seeing its way to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 sometime early in 2015.
According to Eurogamer, the new version will have 1080p visuals for PC and the next-gen consoles as well as 5.1 surround sound support.
The version will also allow players to choose between a 4:3 ratio or the updated 16:9 ratio and will have multiple different control styles, including a new scheme for those new to the series that has characters move in the direction of the analog stick in comparison to the classic tank controls, which will of course also be present.
Screenshots can be seen over at Famitsu. The game looks absolutely stunning and I’m extremely excited to get a hold of it.
The game will have a digital-only release across all platforms. There has been no word on pricing as of now.
