PS4 Hardware Failure Expected to affect 0.4% of Consoles

Sony has revealed that around 0.4% of PS4 consoles are expected to be effected from hardware failure at launch. The figure was revealed by a Sony representative who was speaking to Game Informer who confirmed that a small amount of users have reported hardware faults to them. However Sony said that it is within their expectations for a new product and are investigating the issues.

“This is within our expectations for a new product introduction, and the vast majority of PS4 feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We are closely monitoring for additional reports, but we think these are isolated incidents and are on track for a great launch.”

Based on a projection of 5 million units sold within the first few months of launch, it is estimated that around 20,000 consoles could be affected by such issues.

The PlayStation 4 is now available in North America, and will release in Europe November 29.
