PS4 doesn’t support 3D Blu-ray at Launch

It was revealed earlier this week that Xbox One will not support 3D Blu-ray movies, despite adding in Blu-ray functionality for the console. Unfortunately for PS4 owners, the PS4 will also not support 3D Blu-ray, at least not at launch anyway. In the PS4 user manual which is now available online, it lists “Blu-ray 3D” under unsupported media.

This is a particularly strange move from Sony considering that the PS3 supports 3D Blu-ray movies fine, plus the fact that the PS4 has been designed to be 3D gaming capable and most Blu-ray players support 3D movies. Microsoft stated they had not ruled out adding in 3D Blu-ray support further down the line, however Sony are yet to comment on the matter. However it would come as a huge surprise if Sony were not to add in the feature later on at some point.
