PS Vita TV to Play PS3 Games via Gaikai

Sony have confirmed that the PlayStation Vita TV will support and be able to stream PlayStation 3 games via Gaikai. When PSVita TV was first announced earlier in the month, it was only confirmed that it will support the use of PS Vita, PSP and PSone games, however you can now add PS3 games to that list.

“We’d like to offer a variety of games because the fun of server-based services like Netflix is you just want to browse through,” Yoshida explained in response to a question asking how expansive the Gaikai’s launch catalogue will be

However Sony also stated that any games released via Gaikai would need to be re-certified.

Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida stated, “We have to make sure the games work through the internet, We have to go through certification for each title. So we’ll start with a selection and then work from there.”

Unfortunately, no release date for European users was revealed, with the PlayStation Vita TV still set to launch in Japan November 14. The Gaikai streaming service will be available on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PSVita.
