The Pipe Bomb #13: The Theorist Hunt
The 13th installment of The Pipe Bomb is unlucky for anyone who believes anything Glenn Beck says when he has no idea what he’s talking about.
Watch Dogs has sold 4 million copies in a week, which is a pretty high standard for any video game and a pretty good statistic. With any good news comes bad news, and with bad news comes the stupid propaganda, and my target for this pipe bomb is Glenn Beck.
Oh boy, this is going to get nasty really quick. Okay, before I tear Mr. Beck a new one, I will say he’s entitled to his opinion, and now comes the fury.
See, I’m one that video games are purely that, video games, and video games are wholly fictional, even the ones using the basis of historical events like the old Call Of Duty games. Watch Dogs is that, it’s completely fictional, even in a connected reality, hacking that easily isn’t even possible. While I may not know any hackers personally, from what I do know, it’s a complicated process of bypassing security systems, firewalls and the like, and may take anywhere from a few hours to a few days.
In his 11 minute video, Beck had some interesting things to say about Ubisoft’s latest release.
“This game is teaching you to hack into whatever is docked in your bedroom,” Beck says in the above segment. “What the heck is wrong with us? What are we thinking? We are inviting this into our home and our lives.
“The idea here is they are teaching you to hack and then become the ultimate voyeur in other people’s lives,”he also noted, “including their bedrooms, by hacking into their phones and everything.”
If Watch Dogs can teach me to hack, then surely, Call Of Duty games can teach me how to handle a gun and aim down the sights amidst recoil and other accountable factors. Hell, with this brain dead logic Beck has, this means a controller is a viable substitute for a gun. Could Glenn Beck be any stupider? Well, since he’s probably in the NRA’s pocket, most likely the answer is yes.
The media and these anti-video game nuts are falling on their own swords and aren’t realizing it. They keep claiming that video games are the problem and guns aren’t. Well, what do you use to kill, a video game or a gun? You use a gun jackass, not a video game controller. Just like Katie Couric, Glenn Beck, your argument is invalid and you need a dose of your own medicine served to you, which is what I’ve done. Hell, the “research” you did on the game wasn’t even sufficient. Mr. Beck, you’ve been pipe bombed.
