Persona 5 Announced, Alongside Three Spin-Offs

Earlier today, in Japan, Atlus finally gave the people what they wanted: officially announcing Persona 5, coming exclusively to PS3 next winter in Japan.

Persona 5 will be the latest main series entry in the long running turn-based JRPG series that has gained some serious traction worldwide over the past few years. No other details were provided outside of a cryptic teaser trailer:

Hints of a new Persona game began emerging as far back as 2010. Now we can rest assured that a new entry is finally on its way. Though when, or if, we can expect the game in the west remains a mystery. But given Atlus’ track record, we can probably expect it shortly after the Japanese release. Perhaps with the recent acquisition by Sega, we can expect a worldwide simultaneous release.

The announcement came alongside the reveals for three additional Persona games:

  • Persona 4: Dancing All Night, a rhythm game for Playstation Vita.
  • Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, what appears to be a dungeon crawler featuring chibi versions of the casts of Persona 3 and 4 coming to 3DS.
  • Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold, a sequel to Persona 4: Arena also coming to the PS3.
