PC version of The Division won’t be a port of PS4 & Xbox One versions
Ubisoft Massive, developer of The Division, has stated the The Division on PC will not be a port of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, instead it will be a full-fledged, optimized version as they aim to deliver a high quality experience to PC gamers.
In a Community Q&A regarding the Snowdrop engine, when asked how the game will look on PC after it being said that The Division had been designed with next-gen consoles in mind, the developer responded,
“As you know, Massive has its roots in PC development. We are working hard and we want to make sure that we have a very high quality experience on PC. You can be sure that our PC version won’t be a port, but a full-fledged, optimized version! We want to create the best game possible regardless of what platform you play on.”
When The Division was announced earlier in the year, it was originally an Xbox One and PlayStation 4 exclusive, but following the interest and demands made for a PC version from gamers Massive confirmed the game would also be heading to PC. The statement from the developers is good news for PC gamers, who have been worried that not as much effort would go into the PC version and instead would be just a direct port from next-gen platforms.
The Division is due to launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC in late 2014.
