Origin Phases Out Physical-Based Games

EA’s digital-based online service known as Origin has officially announced it will do away with physical copies of its games, and transfer to digital-only titles.

The announcement comes after EA discovered only one percent of users bought physical copies of games from its online store. It seems EA is firing the opening salvo towards eliminating the need for physical-based media.

EA said the change does not affect the majority of its users.

“Digital is fast and convenient,” says EA. “Origin’s focus is to give gamers the best experience, and going all-digital will make that possible.”

The changes go into effect starting April 4 and hope to provide a hassle-free experience for all Origin users, current and future.
