2 days ago, Super Smash Bros. Director Masahiro Sakurai released this photo on Super Smash Bros. Miiverse page, teasing at the confirmation of Meta Knight.
It was unsure whether the post was actually a confirmation of Meta Knight or just showing off some items you can equip on the Mii fighters in the game. Today however, all doubts have been cast aside with Meta Knight being confirmed by Sakurai’s Pic of the Day.
Sakurai headed to the comments to explain a change to Meta Knight’s Up Special Move:
“Meta Knight’s Up Special Move, Shuttle Loop, changed quite a bit in this game. The glide is gone, and the attack slashes opponents twice while spinning in a large loop. This has turned into a highly technical and effective move.”
Meta Knight was infamous in the last Smash Bros game Super Smash Bros. Brawl for being the best character in the game, to the point of many calling for his removal in competitive play. It will be interesting to see all the changes he will receive in this game to tone him down.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be released Holiday 2014 and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS will be released October 3rd of this year.
