The Last of Us receives 10 BAFTA nominations

BAFTA has announced the nominations for the British Academy Games Awards in 2014, with Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us leading the pack with a total of 10 BAFTA nominations. The categories in which they have been nominated for include Action & Adventure, Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, Best Game, Game Design, Multiplayer, Music, Story, and a double-nomination in Performer.

Grand Theft Auto V comes in with the second most nominations with an impressive nine including Best Game, British Game, Game Design, Game Innovation and Multiplayer. Tearaway has received eight nominations whilst five games have each received four, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, BioShock Infinite, Super Mario 3D World, The Stanley Parable and Papers, Please.

Nominations in the Performer category include Ashley Johnson (Ellie) and Troy Baker (Joel) from The Last of Us, Courtnee Draper (Elizabeth) in BioShock Infinite, Ellen Page (Jodie) in Beyond: Two Souls, Kevan Brighting (The Narrator) in The Stanley Parable and Steven Ogg (Trevor Phillips) in Grand Theft Auto V.

The BAFTA Games Awards will take place on Wednesday, March 12 at the Tobacco Dock, London, and will be hosted for the sixth consecutive year by comedian and gamer Dara O Briain. Tickets for the event are available from the BAFTA website, with the event being streamed on Twitch for those not attending.
