Jack Tretton to step down as President and CEO of SCEA
Jack Tretton will step down as President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America, in a mutual agreement between Tretton and Sony.
Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. announced on Thursday that Jack Tretton will be stepping down from his role as President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America. This is a mutual agreement between Tretton and Sony not to renew their contractual relationship. Shawn Layden, currently Executive Vice President and COO of SCEA will replace Tretton, effective April 1. Tretton had been with SCEA since its inception in 1995, and has played a pivotal role in launching all Playstation platforms in North America.
“Working at SCEA for the past 19 years has been the most rewarding experience of my career, Although I will deeply miss the talented team at SCEA and the passion demonstrated every day by our fans, I’m very excited about starting the next chapter of my career. I want to thank the employees, partners and customers for their tireless commitment to the PlayStation brand and, of course, to our fans who have pushed us to new heights of innovation and entertainment over the past two decades. I leave PlayStation in a position of considerable strength and the future will only get brighter for PlayStation Nation.” - Tretton
Although Tretton has been known to make some controversial and potentially slanderous comments regarding other platforms and rival companies, he has undeniably done a fantastic job at SCEA and has been a crucial part of their success in his time there. We at JumpToGamer would like to congratulate Tretton on all of his success, and we wish him well in the future. We would also like to wish good luck to Layden, who we are sure will build upon this success.
