Capsized is a 2D platformer and puzzle game made by AlienTrap. In this indie game you play as a space captain that has crashed landed on an alien planet and has to rescue his team mates that are lost in space. Interestingly, the story is told through cutscenes of comic book panels, a nice addition to the game that adds something a little different to it. The objectives of each level is to power radio cells and reach the end.
There are a lot of cool tricks that the player can utilise such as using jetpacks and gravity hooks to navigate the character through the level. Each area has caves, pits, and fun places to climb and jump, adding a feeling of exploration to the levels and stopping a feeling of being forced down one linear level. There are a lot of enemies to kill providing endless combat, fueled by a large range of weapons such as machine guns and rockets.
The faults of the game are that combat goes kind of slow and it is buggy when you can still kill characters that are off the screen. Although there are unlockable bonus modes and co-op play. All in all Capsized takes back the age of 2D platformers and makes it into a fun old school game.
