Games with Gold in August

Major Nelson has confirmed that the next games to be released on the Xbox Live Games with Gold in August will be Crackdown, Dead Rising 2 and it’s prequel game Dead Rising 2: Case Zero.

The Xbox exclusive hit, Crackdown will be available from the 1st July until the 15th July for Xbox Live Gold members. This open-world, third person shooter was released in 2007 and was an idea conceived by the creator of Grand Theft Auto and Lemmings, David Jones. Although not a recent game by any stretch of the imagination, it’s certainly one to bring back nostalgia and give those who never tried the series a chance at an Xbox classic.

Dead Rising 2 and it’s prequel Dead Rising 2: Case Zero will be available from the 16th July until the end of the month. Xbox are surely using this as a promotional tool for the upcoming Xbox One exclusive, Dead Rising 3. A great game with great humour, I certainly can’t wait to get my hands on this one on my 360.

It does seem like Microsoft are beginning to pick up a bit of steam with their Games with Gold promotion, and hopefully we’ll begin to see a few real classics or newer games coming to the promotion soon, they must bring something really special to the table soon in order to really compete with the PS+ system. With just 7 game titles left unannounced now, as we know Halo 3 will be one of the games released for free, i’m thoroughly expecting to see a release of games like Gear of War 3, Alan Wake, Mass Effect 2 and maybe even a Batman title. Here’s hoping.
