EA Sports End Partnership with Tiger Woods
EA Sports have announced that they have ended their partnership with golfer Tiger Woods, who’s name they have used on their golf games for the last 15 years. Alongside announcing the termination of the partnership with Woods, EA Sports did release details about a new next-gen golf title which is currently in development for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
“EA Sports and Tiger Woods have… made a mutual decision to end our partnership, which includes Tiger’s named PGA TOUR golf game,” stated EA Sports. “We’ve always been big fans of Tiger and we wish him continued success in all his future endeavors.
“Moving forward, we will continue to work with the PGA TOUR exclusively to create groundbreaking golfing titles and our partnership remains strong.”
The partnership between EA and Tiger Woods began in 1998 when they released Tiger Woods PGA Tour 99. Since then, they have released a new golf game every year, with the last Tiger Woods game being Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 which released in March 2013.
However despite Tiger Woods and EA going their separate ways, golf fans will be pleased to know that the future is looking bright on consoles still for EA’s golf game
“EA Sports golf fans have always loved authentic courses and players, but they’ve also asked for more choice and customization in how and where they play, We’re working on a new approach to deliver the best golf experience to our fans — we think you’ll love it, and so we’re excited to share the first screenshot of our next generation golf game currently in development.”
A screenshot has been released of the unnamed gold title, along with a comparison between the game on Current-gen and Next-gen consoles. A release date however has not yet been set.
