Time for an update! Sonic Lost Worlds solely for the Nintendo Wii U is out on 18/10/2013, in less than a month. I am incredibly excited for this game as I am a huge Sonic The Hedgehog fan also, this looks to carry on the trend of Sonic Generations of being a decent 3D Sonic game.
In this article I am going to address the ‘Deadly Six’, the new bad guys and gal for Lost Worlds. There has been a new trailer released which shows Sonic fighting the various Deadly Six, I have analysed this and here are my findings.
Whilst not much was known about the Deadly Six, apart from that Dr. Robotnik has enlisted their help in some way, this trailer opens up a few new assumptions, compared with previous trailers released we can assume the order and type of battle each of the mysterious creatures will be like.
The first up is Zazz, the tall, skinny, horned and coloured pink & purple member of the Deadly Six. Zazz starts attacking Sonic a robotic yellow ball with an evil face. This is no typical chase battle seen in previous titles as there seems to be more involved then high speed antics. The robotic ball seems to be Zazz’s main attack during the battle, as in the trailer he is seen throwing it at Sonic. Another move executed by Zazz is Zazz himself riding on top of the ball as it spits stars out that fall straight down on to the ground which Sonic dodges by moving to a gap in between the stars. I think that the horns are important on Zazz as Sonic is seen jumping over him when he doesn’t have the robotic ball and charging at Sonic, this suggests that Sonic will lose rings upon impact head on, maybe Sonic will have to jump over and hit Zazz from behind.
There are a few theories about the fight as during the trailer there are parts in the day and parts at night. A couple of theories are that there are two parts to the battle spread out, or that the robotic ball, which resembles the sun (but with an evil face) has absorbed all the light, there is a strange glow in the robotic balls mouth which could explain this a bit outlandish but we talking about one of the slowest natural creatures travelling at speeds faster than sound!
Lastly, this battle seems to take place in the Windy Hill Zone, but I am only assuming as to the background in the battle.
Next up is the bottom heavy member of the Deadly Six, Zomom. This orangey/yellow food in hand creature looks to be the next in line .Zomon is a big unit who seems to attack in the desert, leading to the assumption that this battle takes place in the Desert Ruin Zone (Duhh). In the trailer for Zomon’s battle there are green and orange coloured blocks that appear to have fallen onto the desert. These blocks resemble the platform that holds the end level animal capsule for the Desert Ruins Zone 2. This could mean that Zomom attacks you at the end of Zone 2 and this leads to you falling to Zone 3/Boss Battle.
Zomom’s first attack that we view is him spinning around, very similar to Crash Bandicoot but with sand all around him. In an earlier scene we see Sonic running through a level trying to get away from a sand tornado, which looking at this trailer means that it could be Zomom. When Sonic is running away from the sand tornado we see pillars in the background which look like the same pillars during the confrontation with Zomom where he spins like Crash Bandicoot. Another clip shows another confrontation with Zomom with no blocks or pillars. In this clip Zomom jumps quite high in the sky and pounds the ground which stuns Sonic if he doesn’t jump in time. Pretty different in comparison to other Sonic games.
This small guy is very fruity! No seriously, Master Zik seems to have a weird obsession with fruit. He uses various types to attack Sonic throughout the battle. It seems quite peculiar that only one of the Deadly Six is referred to as ‘Master’, is this because he is the general Master of the Deadly Six, or is he a Master of sorcery; actually, he is probably a Master of fruit! But at the moment we don’t know. He is very small in stature with blue skin and grey hair with a very funky grey moustache! Master Zik also has small yellow & black striped horns while also wearing what looks like dark grey robes.
In the scenes provided we see that the battle takes place on sever spherical worlds, each smaller than the last. In one scene we see Master Zik on top of a massive peach rolling towards Sonic in an attempt to leave Sonic as road kill. Master Zik also creates a fruit salad shield around him when he is off the giant fruit and ground level, making it very difficult to hurt the little f*cker! In another clip a strange vortex appears behind Master Zik, which leads me to theorize; does he use these vortex’s to escape to a smaller spherical planet after Sonic has damaged him? If you watch carefully in one clip of Master Zik taunting Sonic, we can see a classic Sonic The Hedgehog balloon (Red with a blue circle on the side with a yellow start in the middle), another theory is that Sonic uses this to attack Master Zik & knock him off the giant fruit.
The planets which the Master Zik battles take place are very colourful so I’m assuming again that Master Zik will be fought in the Tropical Coast Zones.
Come on! Every evil gang needs one evil female portrayed in a slightly sexy way (Guilty) and Zeena fits this mode. Green skinned with a curvy figure, skin tight black pants on and very long green hair, which brings Jesse from Team Rocket into mind. Zeena also has one horn, purple & black.
Zeena’s battle also takes place on a sphere, similar to Master Zik’s but this one is made purely of ice. Another similarity for this battle is that Zeena swings a metal ball , shaped like a giant snowman’s head, around, like Zazz, but Zeena’s is held by a green light which protrudes from her hands, while she spins around. A new move not previously seen is when Zeena does not have the giant metal snowman’s head, she emits two green lasers, one from each hand so they meet at the underside of the sphere, and whilst doing this she spins meaning Sonic has to elegantly jump whilst skating around the ice. Maybe, like the Zazz battle Sonic has to get rid of the giant metal Snowman’s head before he can attack Zeena and the lasers are her last line of defence.
Sonic has also developed some cool moves for this battle, Sonic can now skate! And it looks really, really good. When he jumps whilst skating he resembles a figure skater, the detail is that good!
As Zeena’s battle takes place on an ice sphere I’m taking a wild stab in the dark here and guessing that this takes place in the Frozen Factory zone.
Next up to be run circles around is the feral like Zor. Zor to me resembles and emo teen. Parted purple hair only showing one eye, blue and black horns, grey skin with black fur over his lower body and slouched.
In this trailer Zor is seen on top of a mechanical owl, which if you remember previous trailers you have to dodge in a forest zone. Also in this trailer the mechanical owl is seen firing quite large missiles/bullets at Sonic which in turn Sonic will have to home attack to reach the owl (Assuming).
The background to this part of the trailer is very detailed, more so than the other boss battle backgrounds, and if you remember well enough it is from a previous level where you have to hide behind various items, like bushes, trees, etc, to dodge the mechanical owls gaze. Another question raised by this Zor trailer is that you might have to fight each member of the Deadly Six twice, as in one scene Zor is seen away from the Mechanical Owl, jumping up from between platforms aiming for Sonic with his horns, I suppose two battles per Deadly Six would be very interesting as long as each battle was different.
Zor is battled in the Salon Forest Zones and that’s all for Zor, for now.
Now Zavok looks a formidable foe, he’s tall well built (Muscular), red and looks one evil mo-fo. Zavok’s battle seems to take place in Windy Hill, which is pretty confusing, unless Windy Hill is central in the Lost Hex world. Zavok is found riding a metal dragon on another small sphere planet. For this part of the battle the metal dragon is main focus as Sonic is seen attacking its tail to cause damage. Next along in the trailer is the metal dragon showing up in a side scrolling section appearing out the sky and targeting Sonic. In the next portion of the fight the background changes to thunderstorms and black clouds and you are seen on top of the metal dragon fighting it out with Zavok (At last!). Zavok looks to have a charging attack with his fist and a stomping attack which both look simple to dodge but throw in the metal dragon firing lasers as well makes it a little bit tougher, only a little though.
Zavok seems to hang around the Lava Zone, which makes sense because since when has the Lava region ever not been the last section!
Well folks that’s me done for this week on Sonic Lost Worlds, if there are any more developments before 18/10/2013 when this magnificent looking game is released I will post again!
Hope you enjoyed!
