Capcom Games Miss Sale Targets, but still Sell Well
Capcom have released their Fiscal 2013 report, in which they reveal the sales figures of their latest titles. Games such as Resident Evil 6 and DmC: Devil May Cry all failed to reach their sale targets. The publisher did manage to sell over 14 million copies of their games, however only 3 titles surpassed the 1 million units sold mark.
2 of those 3 titles failed to even reach their sale target. Resident Evil 6 shifted 4.9 million copies, but fell way short of Capcom’s expectation of being able to sell at least 7 million copies. DmC: Devil May Cry also fell short, only achieving around 57% of the expected sales. 1.15 million copies of DmC were sold, however Capcom had expected 2 million copies to sell.
However there was some good news for Capcom, as their new franchise, Dragon’s Dogma, achieved an impressive 1.3 million units sold, establishing itself as a standalone brand.
Although Revenue climbed from $820m to $940m, overall profits fell by $31m. Capcom however expect profits to double in the next 12 months, expecting sell over 13 million units. Resident Evil: Revelations and Lost Planet 3 are both targeting sales of 1.8 million.
