Blizzard Parental Controls to restrict in-game purchases by default
Blizzard Entertainment recently announced that they will be changing how parental controls are handled by restricting in-game purchases by default on all accounts which currently have parental controls enabled. All accounts which have this enabled will no longer be able to make purchases in the in-game shop in World of Warcraft, make real-life purchases in Diablo 3′s auction house (closing March 18) or make real-money purchases in Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.
In an email which will be sent to all account holders with parental controls, Blizzard stated, “We’re making this change to ensure that Parental Controls users will have more control over real-money purchases in Blizzard games. No action is needed to keep this default setting and prevent in-game purchases.”
These changes will take affect on January 7, 2014 or shortly afterwards.
